Commodore's Report
At the general
meeting held April 25th, a motion was made to vote "NO"
to paving the driveway. Further discussion addressed the
problems of drainage and surface erosion, which was believed to
be a greater priority at this time.
(Plans previously
approved by the Board to pave portions of the driveway had been
put on hold. A petition had been signed by (20) Members to hold
a special meeting to discuss this issue with the Membership. A special
meeting was called to this effect.)

Notice
of Meeting

,make constructive comments and suggestions, and hear about plans
for next year !
HELP!
Our "Rent-A-Wreck" Banquet Jacket operation has grown
up. Having raised almost $600 for the Rolex Regatta this year, it
is time to upgrade. Sailors would now like to wear "slightly
used" presentable sports coats. Please keep us in mind when
you clean your closets. If you wish to donate any sports jackets
(the larger the better and please - no wool !) and ties, bring them
to the Yacht Club. Thank you.

You may
have noticed a new boat ramp. The materials
finally arrived, and with the help of "Mikey" and Bruce
Marshall, the ramp was installed. Also, thanks to Bruce White and
"Skeff" for their input. We have a number of extra pieces,
so we should be able to repair any future damage for quite some
time.
As a reminder,
the boat ramp is for use by boats belonging to current members in
good standing. If you pay for a mooring or dry storage, the use
of the ramp is free. If you do not pay for a mooring or dry storage,
the use of the ramp is $5.00.
Boats using the ramp that do not belong to a STYC member will be
charged $50.00. The material was fairly
expensive (shipping especially), this will allow us to defray some
of the costs.
I am also
in the process of obtaining a "crash" pump. In my tenure
as Fleet Captain I can think of one boat that sank and at least
three others that tried to sink. By having a pump readily available,
hopefully any future incidents will be easier to deal with. I plan
on having a regular maintenance schedule and storing the pump in
a location that will allow rapid deployment.

Friday Night Racing Series Opening Night May 3rd !
Whether
you remember the excitement of last summers racing series, or you
just heard the buzz around the Club, you're not going to want to
miss this year's opening night.
The
fleet has grown and there is even more demand for crews, so make
sure you get your name on the Crew Sign-up Sheet (located on the
Easel in the Clubhouse). More boats means more racing stories to
tell at the awards party (6:45pm) after, and May 3rd will feature
live music with Bill Easton during Happy Hour so clear out your
calendar, it's time to go sailing !
