VEUVE CLICQUOT WOMEN'S REGATTA
NOVEMBER 15 - 18, 2001
Louri Lynn Throgmorton and Summer Westman

Final plans are underway for the 15th annual VCP Women's Regatta. This year's regatta will take on a new format. For the first time, the Regatta will be a multi-class event, with women competing in (thus far) Sunfish, Aqua Fins, Lasers and Wayfarers.
We have invited, and are hoping, that our new IC-24 fleet will also be participating in their own class. Their involvement would bring a different level of sailing to the Regatta and would allow additional women to participate.
Registration information will be mailed out this week. If you would like registration information please contact Sue Cilliers suecilliers@yahoo.com.
Many sailors will be coming from St. Croix, the BVI and St. John. If you have room in your home to assist a sailor with housing, please contact Laura Jamison at jamison@viaccess.net.
This years entertainment will be Dick Solberg and The Sun Mountain Band, and all activities at the Yacht Club are open to the public. Sunday's awards brunch will be held at the Ritz Carlton, St Thomas at 2:00pm. Past Regatta Directors will be honored at the brunch awards ceremony along with all of the regatta winners.
If you are interesting in participating in any way please contact one of the following committee heads, volunteers are needed.

The program brought more than 500 people on the water between May and August 2001. Participation in these races increased the bar and food sale on Friday evenings.

A slide show of the Oracle Campaign will be presented at the Yacht Club on October 5 by Peter Holmberg - who will be back home for a few days before leaving for New Zealand.

The IC-24 program will resume on November 1st, when the boats go back in the water. Lessons and seminars (by Paul Stoeken) will also resume in November. Schedule to be announced.

Two regattas are scheduled for December 7-9 and January 18-20. These will be invitational events extended to other yacht clubs around the Caribbean. A total of 12 teams (6 owner-teams and 6 guest-teams) will compete. Three owner-teams and three guest-teams will sail of total of 5 races. The next 6 teams will do the same, the top 6 teams advance to the Sunday round for a total of 5 races. Guest teams are limited to 3 people which will allow for 2 local sailors to get on board.

We are asking members to help with housing for the visiting teams.

Several people have expressed interest in purchasing a J-24 for conversion to an IC-24. Chris Rosenberg is currently purchasing five (5) J-24's in Texas which will be delivered to St. Thomas during October and November. These can be purchased for a total cost of $6000-7000, prior to conversion to an IC-24 (includes sails and rigging).

We are currently planning a dinner for late October - early November to organize prospective buyers. Anyone interested may reach Chris Rosenberg at 775-7007.
