V.I.'S FOSTER, BISHOP WIN CLASSES AT P.R. REGATTA

March 16, 2003 - New bottom paint, replaced stanchions and repair of a cracked keel surely helped and a collision in the last race didn't hurt as St. Thomas skipper John Foster sailed his J-27 Magnificent 7 to first place in its class this weekend at the 27th Puerto Rico International Regatta.

Let's acknowledge the participants who are going to the 2002 Central American & Caribbean Games, and give our support to all who will be competing in Valle de Bravo, Mexico (offsite venue for Sailing events). The sailing event venue will be located at Club Náutico Avandaro A.C., Km 5 of Carretera a Colorines, Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico, and will take place from November 19th to December 1st, 2002. Valle de Bravo is at an altitude of 1,846 meters above sea level, Temperature: Minimum Average 11.2 °C , Mean 17.8 °C, Maximum Average 22.7 °C, Wind Strength: 8-14 Knots.

Nov. 11, 2002 - Brisk winds, tricky shifts and stiff currents created challenging conditions on Sunday for the 10 spinnaker and non-spinnaker boats sailing in the Pillsbury Sound Race hosted by the St. Thomas Yacht Club.
Ultimately, John Foster's J/24, Magnificent 4, topped the spinnaker class, while Bill McConnell's Whippet ended first among the non-spinnakers. More ...

The Pillsbury Sound Race will be held on Nov 10, 2002 at the St. Thomas Yacht Club.
First start (non-spinnaker) in the vicinity of Cowpet Bay at 10:00am.
Open to non-spinnaker, spinnaker, and IC-24 Classes.

LAING AND UNCLE SAM ARE LADY TRISTRAM WINNERS

July 21, 2002 - Reading the wind shifts correctly and avoiding dead air holes on a race course around St. Thomas gave Sam Laing and the crew aboard his Beneteau 10M Uncle Sam the victory in Sunday's St. Thomas Yacht Club-hosted Lady Tristram Regatta.
