Social and Shore-side Schedule of Events

As most of you are aware we will be hosting the 37^th annual International Rolex Regatta in just a few weeks. This event is very important to the club as we do well financially from it as well as enhancing STYC ‘s reputation in the international sailing community. We do suffer some slight disruption of services as we prepare for the races and doing the event itself for our members so I am putting out a schedule in advance that will prevent any surprises because of the regatta.

Parking is one of our biggest problems – if you are working on a committee please request a parking permit from your chairperson. They will have to be shared. Car Pools are good idea!

To aid in this transition and to get you involved in the event I am listing important dates where some services will be limited but also giving you a schedule in advance of the important social events that all club members are invited to enjoy.

We are expecting that Saturday night at Yacht Haven Grande (March 27) will be even better than last year. Cool Sessions Brass will be playing and we are offering free transportation from the club parking lot to and from Yacht Haven Grande in shuttle buses. Last year this party was the hit of the entire weekend.

Important Dates before the Regatta

Sunday March 7 - Race Committee Seminar 9am -11am Open to all (On land)

Saturday March 13 – Race Committee Seminar 9am – 11am Open to all (on water)

Friday March 19 – Last day to get into your storage lockers until after the event – plan ahead please! There will be no exceptions on this one

Monday – Thursday March 15^th – 18^th All Private and club boats will be moved on to Tennis Court #1 and this court from the beach and storage area. Court 1 will be closed until the 31^st of March. If you own a boat you must move it or have it moved by a friend on to the tennis court during these days.

Friday March 20 STYC Dock will be closed to all club boats not involved in the Rolex Regatta

1700 Skippers Meeting at St. Thomas Yacht Club

Friday March 26^th

0700 Complimentary Breakfast at STYC

1200 – 1900 Lunch and Dinner Buffets

1000- 1500 Races to town Southside

1500 – 1800 Music by Glen Samuel

2000 – 2300 Music by Spectrum Band

Saturday March 27th

0700 Complimentary Breakfast at STYC

1000- 1500 Racing on both sides of current cut and around the James’

1200 – 1900 Lunch and Dinner Buffets

1500 – 1800 Music by George Thomas

Saturday Evening Yacht Haven Grande

1845 – 2030 Transport leaves Yacht Club

1930 Bars open at Yacht Haven Grande and dinner is offered at Restaurants on site and snacks doing evening.

1930 – 2330 Music and dancing featuring Cool Session Brass Band

2230 – 2345 Transportation leaves Yacht haven Grande

Sunday March 29^th

0700 Complimentary Breakfast at STYC

1200 -1900 Lunch and Dinner Buffets

1000 – 1500 Racing on both sides of Current Cut

1500 – 1800 Music by Brother Sol

1800 - Awards Ceremony at STYC Beach
